How salmon, walnuts and chia seeds fight bowel cancer
The omega-3 fatty acids in walnuts, salmon and chia seeds when broken down after eating, they release cancer-fighting molecules.
Eating salmon, walnuts and chia seeds have more benefits than you thought. They can even boost your chances of survival in case of bowel cancer. It prevents the spread of deadly cancerous cells across the body. A recent study has concluded this. The study was led by a team of scientists. The omega-3 fatty acids in walnuts, salmon and chia seeds when broken down after eating, they release cancer-fighting molecules. These molecules attack the cancerous cells.
Aberdeen University in Scotland asserts to be the first to suggest a link between such foods and bowel cancer survival. They analysed the amount of enzymes created when omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids found in chicken, walnut and nuts were broken down in 650 bowel cancer patients. Their survival chances were then studied to observe the impact of walnuts, salmon and chia seeds on cancer.

The results were astonishing s the people who had highest levels of the cancer-fighting enzymes were at greatest chances of beating the disease. Their tumours were found to be spreading less. Spreading of cancerous cells makes death more likely. So stopping the tumour cells from spreading indicates a greater chance of survival.
Lead study author Professor Graeme Murray said that prior to this study, they were unaware about the relationship existed between these enzymes and survival in bowel cancer. It is believed that bowel cancer is the fourth most common form of the disease that kills a quarter of patients within a year.
