With the onset of rains in Bengaluru, the city has seen an upsurge in dengue and swine flu cases. No doubt monsoon is beautiful, but along with itself it brings in a number of diseases as well. Apart from enjoying the pacifying rains, you have to be very careful about your health and make sure that you don’t contract these deadly diseases. The measures that you need to take prevent swine flu is no different than those you take to ward off other seasonal diseases. So have a look.

Don’t put your hands on your face 

Your hands contract dirt and disease-causing germs when you touch things. Putting your hands on your face, eyes, nose and mouth can make way for virus to enter your respiratory system. 

Wash your hands often 

Before and after eating your meals, wash your hands. Make sure to clean the fingernails as well. Use lukewarm water to rinse your hand. 

Keep a hand sanitizer with you always 

You might land up in places that lack wash basins or water. In that case, hand sanitizer might come handy. Use a coin sized product and rub it all over your hands. The alcohol in the sanitizer inactivate the viruses by destroying their protein structure.

Cover your nose and mouth 

When the disease is at its peak, its better to take precautions when you’re out. Cover your face while you sneeze or cough, and do the same when someone else around you does. Maintain an arm’s distance while speaking to someone.
