Riding on immense anticipation following the success of the immense popularity of the first book of Ram Chandra series ‘Scion of Ishvaku’, the second part of the series has been released and will be available in May.
The development should come as welcome news for the bibliophiles desperately waiting for the sequel since long.
Amish Tripathi’s Shiva Trilogy and the Ram Chandra series is much talked about in the contemporary Indian literature.
In a Facebook live session held yesterday at 8pm, the author, Amish Tripathi and Smriti Irani, Union Cabinet Minister of Textiles, revealed details of the highly awaited sequel ‘Sita- Warrior of Mithila’
Amish explained in the live session why this sequel was not actually a sequel. This book narrates the journey of Indian Goddess Sita as a protagonist. He clears that this book is not Sita’s perspective of the Ramayan and that the story will be rather fictional, about an orphaned girl adopted by Mithila who later becomes a powerful warrior, a Prime Minister and then a Hindu Goddess.
“So, the narrative structure of the first three books in the Ram Chandra series, I am following something called as the multi linear narrative,“ he said.
“The narrative structure of the first book, the Scion of Ikshvaku was from the birth of lord Ram till the kidnapping of Lady Sita. The narrative structure of the second book is from the birth of lady Sita till her kidnapping and the third book is from the birth of Raavan till the kidnapping of Lady Sita. The first three independent books will merge at the kidnapping of Lady Sita and the fourth book will carry forward,” Amish added.
On her part, Smriti Irani appreciated Amish’s efforts to portray the progressive Indian woman in a totally different light. Commenting on Amish’s work, she says, “Amish is right when he talks about woman being a warrior not requiring any physical connotation or only a physically aggressive connotation. Women, in countries across the world, fight many a battles emotionally and intellectually. So today’s woman is a warrior.”
The book ‘Sita – Warrior of Mithila’ is available for pre-order on various e-commerce websites. The sale will begin from May end or early June, 2017
