Definition of Cervical Cancer
The lowest portion of a woman's uterus or womb is known as uterine cervix. Cervical cancer or cancer of cervix occurs when the cells of the cervix grow abnormally.
Though this kind of cancer is slow-growing, still many women across the globe are suffering from this disease.
But if the cancer is detected early, let us tell you that cervical cancer has a very high cure rate. As doctors say, it is the only 100 per cent preventable cancer.
To share with you, most women diagnosed with precancerous changes in the cervix are in their 20's and 30's. This is the reason, it is advised by the doctors to get a cervical cancer test (Pap Test) done at age of 21.
Signs and Symptoms of Cervical Cancer
Early Stage
Cervical cancer may not produce any signs or symptoms in its early stages. But there are few common changes that takes place in woman's body during this disease. So, you experience such things, do not neglect them and rather consult your doctor.
1. Unbearable pelvic pain
2. Abnormal vaginal bleeding
3. Bleeding or spotting between periods
4. Longer or heavier menstrual periods than usual
5. Unusual vaginal discharge or foul smelling
6. Vaginal bleeding after sex
7. Pain during sexual intercourse
8. Vaginal bleeding after menopause
Advance Stage
The advance symptoms of cervical cancer if it may spread (metastatic) within other body parts, you can observe the following signs and symptoms.

1. Loss of weight
2. Extreme backache
3. Leg pain or swelling
4. Tiredness and fatigue
5. Bone fractures
6. Leakage of urine or feces from the vagina

Causes of Cervical Cancer
There are few common causes of cervical cancer in women. Please take a note!
1. History of sexual transmitted infections (STI)
2. Having multiple sexual partners
3. Excess use of contraceptives
4. Giving birth to multiple children
5. Human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)
6. Organ transplant
