We all have a set of habits that help to dictate the quality and state of our lives. With so much intricacy in our daily lives, its sometimes hard to remember what you need to do to stay on track with your wellness.
So often, we get derailed by countless distractions tugging at us from every direction throughout the day; we start to feel helpless, hopeless and defeated when we haven't addressed our own mental and physical needs. Your well being encompasses many parts. It is your social, physical, emotional and occupational wellness.
While the bad habits hold us back from achieving our goals, the good habits help to propel us forward. Clearly, if we wake up early in the morning full of energy and enthusiasm because we had ample rest the night before, eat a healthy breakfast, meditate, then workout for at least 20 minutes, we're going to be far more capable of progressing towards our goals than if we feel hung over, had a lack of sleep and skip breakfast.
Building good habits slowly over time will help you create a new lifestyle. So for now just make these 5 changes:
1. Walk at least 10,000 steps per day
The 10,000 step habit is also considered a keystone habit. It helps to lay the foundation to a healthier and more active lifestyle.
2. Learn to meditate
If you're tossing and turning at night, meditation may be a long-term solution that can help.
3. Eat one really healthy meal
Pick one meal. Just one. Then change what you eat. If it's lunch, eat one portion of protein that fits in the palm of your hand, a vegetable or fruit, and four or five almonds.
4. Make a point of walking and talking
Go for a walking meeting or catch up with a friend while you both stroll in the outdoors.
5. Drink a glass of water before every meal
When you drink a glass of water before you eat you'll already feel a little more full and won't be as tempted to eat past the point of hunger.
