Iconic French fashion designer Hubert de Givenchy passses away at 91

French designer Hubert de Givenchy breathed his last during his sleep on Saturday. He was 91. His partner Philippe Venet told AFP, ''It is with huge sadness that we inform you that Hubert Taffin de Givenchy has died.''

Givenchy has styled many dignitaries including Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy. His designs have been favourite of royal ladies across the world such as Queen of England Elizabeth II, Princess Grace of Monaco, the Duchess of Windsor, etc. However, his muse was Audrey Hepburn, whom he has dressed for films like Breakfast at Tiffany and Funny Face.

Givenchy's creations are best known for their classic quality. He was also credited with the creation of the little black dress. Born on February 21, 1927, Givenchy began has journey in 1945. He then went on to work for Pierre Balmain, Christian Dior and Elsa Schiaparelli. Givenchy finally founded his own label House of Givenchy in 1952. 

His fashion house's popularity was evident on the Oscars red carpet this year, as many celebrities including Black Panther Chadwick Boseman wore custom Givenchy designs. His demise has sent shockwaves across the global fashion landscape.
