As the ten days long festival of Ganesh Chaturthi starts today, every Hindu devotee is charged with great enthusiasm.
The celebration Ganesh Chaturthi is marked with the installation of the deity's idol at home and at elaborate pandals. And this year, devotees across the country chose to welcome the eco-friendly Bappa.

Ganesha idol was made up of sugarcane in the state of Tamil Nadu. A user of mico-blogging website tweeted the picture and captioned it as, "#Ecofriendly Lord Ganesha made of 2 Tons of sugarcane. 20 People took 4 days to complete it in Kolathur, North Chennai ,Tamil Nadu . All Sugarcane got distributed among the devotees and poor after they dismantled it. So there was Zero wastage of food"
This is what we call creativity at its best. A village in Goa built the idol of Lord Ganesha with bananas. These bananas will later be distributed among the devotees and poor people. A Twitter user uploaded the picture and wrote, "A village in GOA created this Ganpati from raw bananas and bamboo. In 10 days, bananas will ripen and will be distributed among poor people. #ecofriendlyganesha #tummyfriendlyganesha #whatsappwonderbox"
People are all set to celebrate the festival with colourful processions, bustling music, and energetic dance moves. Many devotees designed clay Ganesh idols for puja and decorate it using biodegradable materials like flowers and leaves.
