The fifth day of Navratri is dedicated to Goddess Skandamata who is actually Goddess Parvati. Yes, after Maa Parvati gave birth to Kartikeya who was also known as Skanda, her new form became Skandamata. She is worshipped on the fifth day out of the nine auspicious days to achieve moksha. Goddess Skandamata is portrayed on a lion with baby Karthikeya. She has four hands in which two upper hands are for carrying Lotus meanwhile, the lower right hand is carrying baby Kartikeya and the lower left one is in Abhaya Mudra.
