Chhath Puja is a four-day long festival which carries out the great enthusiasm in many followers, especially in people belonging to the North Indian states. Chhath Puja is celebrated mainly in the states of Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, and Jharkhand to name a few. This famous festival takes place to thank Lord Surya and Chhati Maiyya for sustaining life on earth and to request for granting certain wishes. Chhath meaning 'sixth' falls on the sixth day of the month of Kartika as per the Lunar calendar.

Sandhya Arghya Puja Vidhi
On the third day of Chhath Puja, Sandhya Arghya is performed. In the early morning of the day, devotees along with their family and friends offer Bihaniya Aragh at the riverbanks of Ganga or other holy water body. The followers gather at the river ghats to offer bhorwa arghya to the rising Sun. Many people also worship Chatti Maiyya (wife of Lord Surya) and distribute thekua.
The people who were observing a fast during the festival, break it and take the blessings of their elders. There is also a tradition of 'Dandwat Pranam' during Chhath Puja festival.
People who have wished or wish to succeed in something, take an oath to go to the Chhath Ghat by lying and saluting on the ground in simple cloth.
