Puffing up your lips is an increasingly sought after the procedure by women of all ages.

The lips can be puffed up temporarily by synthetic injectables or permanently using your own tissues. This lip augmentation procedure hardly takes 15 minutes and lasts for up to one year in case of synthetic injectables. However, if you smoke, the effect will be shorter.

Permanent augmentation using injectables is also possible but many doctors do not advice for permanent fillers as it has increased the chance of complications.

This beauty enhancing lip-filling procedure gained popularity from an Internationally acclaimed reality TV star -Kylie Jenner.

Though there are many Indian actresses including Anushka Sharma, Priyanka Chopra, and Mouni Roy who have tried puffing lips.

So, in case any of these actresses inspired you for trying out this look, we ask you to be wary of a few before and after things to do!

1. Choose a doctor who is not only certified but who has an eye for aesthetics and works carefully to understand your face and create a personalised approach to your lips.

2. It is important to avoid certain supplements a week prior to the procedure. Fish oil can act as a blood thinner, which can increase your risk of bruising and swelling.

3. Give yourself at least two weeks before an important event, so your lips can completely heal.

4. A topical numbing cream can minimise the 'pinch-like pain' from the needle along with lidocaine, a numbing agent, that is added to most fillers. However, if you are allergic to lidocaine, do inform your doctor.

5. The best way to avoid swelling post the treatment is to ask your doctor for an ice pack and sleep with your head elevated for the next couple of days.
