Karnataka: Seven dead, six injured in lorry-cruiser collision in Vijayanagara

At least seven people were killed while several others were injured when a lorry collided with a cruiser in Karnataka's Vijayanagara area. According to police, there were 13 people in the cruiser car.

Seven people were killed while six others were injured in an accident in Karnataka's Vijayanagara area on Monday. The accident took place between two mining tipper lorries and a cruiser. There were 13 people in the cruiser. 

"The condition of the injured is critical. The injured have been admitted to a government hospital," said Vijayanagar SP Srihari Babu.

According to Vijayanagar SP Srihari Babu, the deceased has been identified as Uma, Kenchavva, Bhagya, Anila, Goni Basappa, Bhimalingappa and Balaka Yuvaraja, residents of Hospet City.

The police said that the accident took place when the SUV was returning from Koolahalli Goni Basaveshwara Temple in Harapanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district.

"There were 13 people in the cruiser and the condition of the injured is critical. The injured have been admitted to a government hospital", added the police.
