Shivakumar responds after Kumaraswamy accuses Congress of putting 'Electricity Thief' posters

Kumaraswamy said it was not his fault but of a private decorator who gave the connection directly from a nearby electricity pole. When he got to know, he immediately got it removed and took the electricity connection from the meter board of the house, the former CM said.

Karnataka: Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar has hit out at former Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy saying whatever the ex-CM is saying is nonsense after the latter accused the Congress for putting up posters of 'Electricity Thief' were put up outside his residence.

A couple of days ago, Kumarawamy was accused of stealing power for Diwali decoration at his residence.

Giving a clarification on the matter, Kumarawamy said that the private decorators had took electricity connection from a nearby pole without his knowledge when he was not present at this residence. The former CM apologised and said that he was ready to pay the fine.

However, the ex-CM had accused Congress of putting up posters of 'Electricity Thief' outside his place.

Responding to Kumaraswamy's allegation, DK Shivakumar said, "Whatever Kumaraswamy is saying is nonsense."

The Bangalore Electricity Supply Company on Tuesday registered a case against Kumaraswamy after the Congress in Karnataka accused him of drawing power illegally to illuminate his JP Nagar residence here for Deepavali.

The case was registered by the Vigilance Wing of BESCOM at its Vigilance Police Station under section 135 of the Indian Electricity Act (Theft of electricity).
