Two persons were arrested in Karnataka's Chitradurga district for allegedly duping at least 150 people of Rs 1 crore under the pretext of providing them employment in the Indian Army, Air Force and the Naval forces in different districts of the state.
According to an official release, the accused, identified as the 40-year-old Sivaraj Vatagal, and his accomplice Mrs Beemmava had promised jobs to youths in Chitradurga, Davangere and Haveri districts.
A complaint was filed by Prakash (31) against the main accused Sivaraj, a resident of Hubli who was a deserter in the Indian Army. A joint operation was carried out by the Military Intelligence of Bengaluru and Srirampura police to nab the accused.
After their arrest, items like fake identity cards and Army recruitment-related documents were recovered from the possession of the accused.
