A family of three was found dead at a resort in Kaggodlu village in Karnataka's Kodagu district on Saturday morning. According to news agency ANI, a man his and his wife killed themselves after allegedly killing their 3-year-old child. The Karnataka Police said that the deceased family belonged to Kollam, Kerala. The Police were alerted by the resort staff.
The deceased have been identified as 43-year-old Vinod Babusenan along with his 38-year-old wife GB Abraham, and their daughter Jane Maria Jacob. Citing a suicide note, the police said that the couple had to take this drastic step due to a financial crisis. The couple were running a business near Kollam.
The family stayed in the resort
The family had arrived at the resort in an SUV on Friday evening. Later, they went out for a walk in the resort. According to the resort's manager, Anand, the family was hyped up when they had arrived.
Vinod informed the resort staff that he would check out at 10 am on Saturday, but when he did not do so, the staff went to check on him. An employee knocked on the door at the checkout time, but no one responded. They tried knocking on the door again after thirty minutes. A police officer said when he looked through the window he saw the couple hanging.
Similar incident seen in Rae Barelli
A few days ago, a similar incident had come to light had in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli. A doctor working at a railway hospital had allegedly killed himself after killing his wife and two children. The incident came to light on December 5 when colleagues of Dr Arun Kumar Singh - informed the police about the matter when no one from the family responded to their calls.
