In response to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) assertion that Karnataka is akin to an "ATM" for the state government, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge offered his perspective on the matter, emphasising the need for measured statements during election times. Kharge shared his thoughts on this issue by highlighting the responses provided by the Chief Minister (CM) and Deputy Chief Minister.
He cautioned against making hasty judgments, stressing that the present government in Karnataka has only been in power for a short time. He urged political leaders to think before speaking and expressed his disapproval of attempts to tarnish the government's image due to election considerations.
"The CM and Deputy CM have already given an answer to this. It has been barely a few months since the government was formed there, and they are already saying these things... You should think and speak... They are trying to defame the government due to elections. This is not going to work," Kharge stated.
Kharge also offered his insights on the ongoing political landscape, especially with the five-state elections approaching. He expressed confidence that the Congress Party would perform well and secure victories in all five states.
He commended the work of Congress leaders Ashok Gehlot and Bhupesh Baghel in Rajasthan and Chhattisgarh, where he observed no significant issues. However, Kharge noted some challenges in Madhya Pradesh, primarily concerning the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. He believes that the majority of the public is against Chouhan's administration.
Regarding the seat-sharing discussions within the INDIA Alliance, Mallikarjun Kharge commented that the priority was the upcoming five-state elections. He suggested that the seat-sharing arrangements would be addressed once these crucial elections are concluded, indicating the complexity and significance of the state polls in the current political context.
