A fire broke out today on the third floor of MS Ramaiah Memorial Hospital in Bengaluru, near the cardiac unit, around 1:15 p.m. The fire is suspected to have been caused by a short circuit in an air conditioning unit.

Prompt evacuation and power cut

Hospital CEO Srinivas Murthy confirmed that staff quickly evacuated patients and attempted to control the fire using extinguishers. Half of the hospital's power supply was cut to prevent further damage. Murthy emphasized that no VIP patients were harmed.

Firefighters contain blaze

Firefighters arrived promptly, using water from two fire engines to combat the blaze. Although the third floor sustained significant damage, all seven cardiac ICU patients were safely evacuated, and no injuries were reported.

Situation under control

The fire is now under control, with hospital officials assuring that there is no danger to patients or their families. The affected patients have been transferred to another building, and further updates will be provided.
