Karnataka Assembly elections: Ahead of the forthcoming Assembly elections in Karnataka, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited the poll-bound state as the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is leaving no stone unturned to regain power in the southern state.

Speaking at a 'Vijay Sankalp' rally at Kanakagiri, the Assam Chief Minister urged people to bring the BJP to power. “We have to bring the Bharatiya Janata Party to power here. We do not need Babri Masjid anymore, we want Ram Janmabhoomi," he remarked.

Further, Sarma also slammed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his London remarks, saying the Wayanad MP would never be able to become the Prime Minister of the country until Narendra Modi is there. "Rahul Gandhi tried to defame India in London, but I want to him that 'you will never be able to become the PM until Modi ji is there,” news agency ANI quoted Sarma as saying.

Sarma launches scathing attack on Rahul Gandhi

Accusing Rahul Gandhi of abusing Indians and the Parliament, Sarma further said he visits Karnataka for 'Bharat Jodo Yatra', and while in London, speaks about 'Bharat Todo' (dividing India). "If Prime Minister Modi goes to London or America, he heaps praise on India, but when our Rahul baba (Rahul Gandhi) goes to London, he abuses Indians and India's Parliament," Sarma said.

Urging the people of Karnataka to vote the BJP back to power in the upcoming Assembly elections, the Assam CM said under the leadership of PM Modi, the country will become a 'Visva Guru' (world leader).

"We've to bring the BJP back to power in Karnataka. The Vidhan Sabha election is the semi-final. Our main objective is to play the final and make Modi-ji the Prime Minister for the third time in a row. Under the leadership of PM Modi, India will become a Vishwa Guru during the 'Amrti Kaal' (golden era)," the Assam CM said.

Sarma hails Basavaraj Bommai-led Karnataka govt

He also hailed Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai-led BJP government in Karnataka, for its budget, developmental programmes for the people, and hike in reservation for SC/ST communities.

State Ministers B Sriramulu and Anand Singh, among others, were present along with the Assam CM during the rally.

Terming Karnataka Assembly polls as the "semifinals" and calling on people to bring back the BJP government in the state, Sarma said: "Our main aim is to win the final (Lok Sabha polls) and make Narendra Modi Prime Minister for the third time. So like the people of Gujarat, Northeast supported Modi, people of Karnataka too will bless him."

"BJP winning Karnataka, also India, and Bharat becoming Vishwa Guru is certain...," he added.
