The Election Commission of India on Tuesday (October 15) announced the dates for the Assembly Elections in Jharkhand and Maharashtra, both of which will vote for the new government next month. While Jharkhand will go to polls in two phases, Maharashtra will vote only in a single phase.
Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, at a press conference, said that the polls in Jharkhand will be held on November 13 and 20 while elections in Maharashtra will take place on November 20. The results in both the states will be announced simultaneously on November 23.
Jharkhand has 81 Assembly constituencies whereas Maharashtra has 288 seats.
