Howarh-CSMT Express accident: At least two people have been killed and nearly 150 were injured after 18 coaches of the Howrah-CSMT Express derailed near Chakradharpur in Jharkhand. The train derailed between Rajkharsawan and Badabambo stations under the South Eastern Railway. The train traveling from Howrah to Mumbai derailed at 3:45 am.
Relief and rescue operations are currently underway at the site of the train accident near Chakradharpur on the Howrah-Mumbai route. The rescue efforts have started, with local police and railway employees actively assisting the passengers.
The injured passengers have been admitted to RIMS Hospital in Ranchi, as well as to government and private hospitals in the vicinity of Chakradharpur.

How did the accident happen?
Goods trains had derailed on the same section two days ago. Today, the passenger train, which was coming on the other track, collided with the derailed wagons. As a result, several coaches of the Howrah-Mumbai Mail also derailed.
The accident occurred near pole number 219 on the Howrah-Mumbai railway line, close to Chakradharpur. Due to the incident, rail operations on the Tatanagar-Chakradharpur section of the South Eastern Railway have come to a complete halt. Many trains have been canceled as a result of the accident, while some are being rerouted to alternative paths.

Chakradharpur Division Senior DCM Aditya Kumar Chaudhary has confirmed the accident.
According to the information, the Mumbai Mail, travelling from Howrah to Mumbai, arrived at Tatanagar at 2:37 am on Monday night instead of its scheduled 11:02 pm arrival. After a two-minute halt, it departed for its next station, Chakradharpur. However, before reaching Chakradharpur, the train met with an accident ahead of Barabamboo at 3:45 am.
The Mail Express collided with a goods train coming from the down line, resulting in 18 coaches of the Mail Express derailing and several coaches of the goods train being damaged. The severity of the accident is evident from the fact that many coaches of the Mail Express were severely crumpled and collided with each other due to the high speed.
Following the accident, relief trains have been dispatched from Tatanagar and Chakradharpur stations to the site. Additionally, a team from the engineering department has been sent to investigate the cause of the accident.
