Dumka Assembly Election 2024: In the 2019 elections, Hemant, representing the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), won the Dumka seat by defeating Lois Marandi from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Soren secured 81,007 votes, while Lois received 67,819 votes.

Dumka Assembly Election 2024: The Dumka Assembly constituency is one of the 81 constituencies in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. It is constituency number 10 of the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly. The constituency is a Scheduled Tribes (STs) seat. It is situated in Dumka district and is one of the 6 assembly segments of Dumka (ST) Parliament Seat. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) are the main parties in the constituency. Hemant Soren from the JMM represented the Dumka seat in the 2019 elections.

Dumka Constituency Demographic Profile

As per data from the Election Commission, there were 165,820 voters in the Dumka constituency during the 20219 Assembly Elections. Out of this, 83,310 were male and 81,723 were female voters. No voter belonged to the third gender. 743 postal votes were cast in the constituency. The number of service voters in Dumka in 2019 was 272 (262 men and 10 women).

In 2014, the total number of voters in the Dumka constituency was 1,56,239. Out of this, 79,405 voters were male and 75,900 were female voters. There were 911 valid postal votes in the constituency. The number of service voters in Dumka in 2014 was 215 (156 men and 59 women).

Dumka Assembly Past Winners

In the 2019 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Hemant Soren of JMM won the seat with a margin of 13188 (8.06 %). He was polled 81,007 votes with a vote share of 48.86%. He defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Lois Marandi who got 67,819 votes (40.91%). JVM candidate Anjula Murmu stood third with 3156 (1.9%). The total number of valid votes polled was 1,63,512 (67.14%).

In the 2014 Jharkhand Assembly Elections, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Lois Marandi won the seat. She was polled 69, 760 votes with a vote share of 44.65%. JMM candidate Hemant Soren got 64846 votes (41.51%) and was the runner-up. Lois defeated Hemant Soren by a margin of 4914 votes. The total number of valid votes polled in this constituency was  1,56,239 (69.24%).
