Two terrorists killed in anti-infiltration operation in Jammu and Kashmir's Uri Sector

Earlier the Army on Thursday said the two terrorists killed in an encounter with security forces in Baramulla district were Pakistani and associated with Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

At least two terrorists were killed in the ongoing anti-infiltration Operation which was launched on Saturday (June 22) along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Uri Sector, Baramulla, Jammu and Kashmir. The body of one terrorist was found at the encounter site.

An infiltration bid was foiled by the Indian Army and Joint Security forces in Gohallan area of Uri in North Kashmir's Baramulla district. 

Based on specific intelligence inputs, an anti-infiltration Operation was launched in the Uri Sector.

Earlier, on June 19, two terrorists were killed and two security personnel injured in an encounter that broke out on Wednesday in the Watergam area of Baramulla. 

The forces launched a cordon-and-search operation in the Watergam area of Baramulla on information about the presence of terrorists there, officials said.

The they added the search operation turned into an encounter when the terrorists opened fire at the security personnel.

A senior police official said two terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire and their bodies were retrieved from the spot. The identity and affiliation of the slain ultras are being ascertained. The officer added that a cop and a soldier were injured in the gunfight.
