Jammu and Kashmir: Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) chief Mehbooba Mufti's daughter Iltiza has called the Abrogation of Article 370 as 'illegal' adding it was extremely unsettling what happened after that as everybody from political leadership to activists to businessmen was placed under some kind of detention.
"What was happening after the illegal abrogation of Article 370 (in 2019) was extremely unsettling. We saw how everybody, right from the political leadership to activists to businessmen, was placed under some kind of detention. So, I felt that so much was being done to the people of Jammu and Kashmir but no one was able to talk about it because there was this fear that if you talk, the government will crack down. Before that, I never came to the fore. I felt like it was my duty and I think I fulfilled my duty," said Iltija Mufti on her foray into politics.
A couple of days ago, while speaking on the Israel-Hamas war, Iltiza said, "We see the shift of Indian foreign policy towards Israel. Palestine is a cause which has remained close to the people of Jammu and Kashmir. We too condemn the situation in Ukraine. But the situation in Palestine is too worrisome. The babies are being targeted there."
India's stand in the past (during the regime of Nehru and Gandhi) was to stand with the people of Palestine, she mentioned.
