J-K Election Result 2024: BJP's Shagun Parihar defeats JKNC's Sajjad Kichloo in Kishtwar

Notably, the 2024 Assembly elections will mark the first local elections in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370. The counting of votes started today on October 8 (Tuesday).

Anticipation and fervor fill the political arena of the Jammu and Kashmir, as the counting of votes for the assembly results progresses in the Union Territory across 90 different seats. While, the Bhartiya Janata Party and Jammu and Kashmir National Conference party have already registered its win from few constituencies, and maintaining its lead over several others, however the exact update over who will form the government, will depend upon once the final results of the remaining constituencies will be out.

BJP's Shagun Parihar takes lead from NC's Sajjad Kichloo

The BJP's move towards fielding Shagun Parihar helped the party securing the victory from the seat. Parihar defeated  NC’s two-time MLA Sajjad Kichloo with a mere margin of 521 votes. 

Moreover, it is pertinent to note that Parihar is a terror victim, whose father Ajit Parihar and uncle Anil Parihar were killed by the terrorists of Hizbul Mujahidin in November 2018.

Kishtwar Legislative Assembly Constituency: Past winners
