Dog menace As many as 350 dog bite cases have been reported in the last 6 months in Kashmir. The Municipal Corporation has failed to control stray dogs and the common people are extremely worried. Doctors have also expressed concern over this matter and said that 30 to 40 cases are being reported daily in just one hospital.
Process of sterilisation and anti-rabies injection started
In view of the increasing cases, the Municipal Corporation in collaboration with the Veterinary Department of Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology has started the process of sterilisation and giving them anti-rabies injection to stop the increasing number of stray dogs.
These stray dogs can be seen roaming around in Smart City Lal Chowk and various areas of Srinagar city. These stray dogs roam together in every hospital, school, park, market and bazaar of the city.
Common citizens are facing problems
Every day about 30 to 40 people are reportedly being admitted to SMS Hospital in Srinagar for their treatment. People are blaming the Municipal Corporation for this menace of stray dogs. While talking to India TV, people said, the number of stray dogs is increasing in Kashmir, due to which common people, especially the elderly and school children, are finding it difficult to go out of their homes. It is noteworthy that Srinagar city has been converted into a smart city. Srinagar Municipal Corporation Commissioner Aamir Athar said, "Sterilisation of dogs has been done on a large scale in for the last three months and this mission is being carried forward with success." Aamir Athar says that people are fully cooperating. Along with sterilisation, vaccination is also taking place. About 20% of the process has been completed and this trend will continue next year also.
