A couple has been arrested for impersonating someone who tricked individuals by promising positions and other favors, officials said today. The accused have been recognised as Manmohan Ganjoo, S/o Lt. Girdhari Lal Ganjoo of Baghat, Srinagar, and Ayoush Koul Ganjoo. A police official said the couple had "tricked numerous people out of lakhs of rupees by promising positions, moves, and other favours."
“Manmohan Ganjoo is suspended police personnel. Laptops, and mobiles containing many fake transfer and appointment orders, including his own order of induction into IPS, were seized. He fraudulently possessed Cash, jewelry, and other incriminating articles also recovered from his house,” said the official.
He said that FIR No. 73/2023 u/s 170,419,420,467,468,471 of the IPC enrolled in sadder PS.

The public is warned not to succumb to such fraudsters. Casualties ought to report, assuming they have been tricked by this 'conman couple," police said.
“Three victims have come forward so far and reported fraud by this couple. The public is requested not to fall prey to such fraudsters. Victims should report if they have been duped by this 'conman couple',” added the official.
In March this year, J&K Police arrested Kiranbhai Patel, a conman from Gujarat who had acted like a senior authority of the Prime Minister's Office for quite some time and had a good time with the J&K administration, availing Z-plus security cover and other authority benefits in Kashmir Valley, which he visited two times. Other than enjoying VVIP status, he had even visited a few security-sensitive spots.
