Jammu and Kashmir Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Highlights: The Udhampur-Doda parliamentary constituency saw a 68.27 percent voter turnout on April 19. The election will determine the fate of 12 candidates. Counting to the votes will begin at 8AM.
Jammu and Kashmir Lok Sabha Election Results 2024 Highlights: As the final picture emerges, National Conference managed to win two seats of Anantnag-Rajouri and Srinagar, while BJP manages to win both the two seats it contested, Jammu and Udhampur. Moreover, Independent candidate Engineer Rashid defeated NC leader and former J-K CM Omar Abdullah. PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti also lost in Anantnag-Rajouri. Six constituencies — Udhampur, Jammu, Srinagar, Baramulla, Anantnag-Rajouri — went to polls this Lok Sabha Elections. According to the Election Commission, the voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir during the Lok Sabha elections was 58.58 per cent, the highest in four decades. The voter turnout in Lok Sabha seats in the Kashmir valley was 51.05 per cent. Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar said the EC was very enthused by the voter turnout in Jammu and Kashmir during the Lok Sabha elections, which showed the eagerness of the people to participate in the democratic process. Whenever assembly elections are held in Jammu and Kashmir, they will be the first since the August 2019 abrogation of Article 370 of the Constitution and the division of the erstwhile state into two union territories. The electoral exercise in Jammu and Kashmir is usually spread over a month. Following a delimitation exercise, the number of assembly seats in the union territory has gone up from 83 to 90, excluding those allocated to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Both the former Chief Minister contesting Lok Sabha elections namely Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti lost Baramulla and Anantnag-Rajouri respectively. PDP chief lost to NC candidate Mian Altaf Ahmad.

Engineer Rashid wins over Omar Abdullah and Sajjad Gani Lone in Baramulla
Independent candidate Engineer Rashid clinched the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat by 2,04,142 votes. Getting 4,72,481 votes, he defeated NC leader and former J-K CM Omar Abdullah who was polled 2,68,339 votes. Sajjad Gani Lone ended up as second runner up with 1,73,239 total votes polled.

Union Minister and BJP candidate Jitendra Singh registers his third consecutive win in Udhampur Lok Sabha seat with a margin of 1,24,373 votes. He defeated Congress' Chaudhary Lal Singh. Jitendra Singh was polled 5,71,076 votes while Lal Singh got 4,46,703 votes.
