Jammu and Kashmir: Two terrorists killed in encounter in Shopian

An encounter broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Shopian area of Jammu and Kashmir in the early hours of Tuesday.

Two terrorists were killed in an encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in Alshipora area in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district early on Tuesday morning, police said.

The terrorists killed have been identified as  Morifat Maqbool and Jazim Farooq also known as Abrar. They were part of the terrorist outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). 

ADGP Kashmir Police said, "Terrorist Abrar was involved in killing of Kashmiri Pandit late Sanjay Sharma."

The Kashmir Police took to social media platform X, formerly Twitter, and said, "Encounter has started at Alshipora area of Shopian. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow."

The encounter began after security forces launched an anti-militancy operation in the Alshipora area after receiving information about the presence of militants there.
