A Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) inspector, Kuldeep Singh of the 187 Battalion, was martyred during an intense encounter with terrorists in the Cheel and Dudu regions of Udhampur district, Jammu and Kashmir. The clash occurred during an area domination patrol, resulting in heavy fire and Singh sustaining fatal injuries.

Response and statement

Rayees Mohammad Bhat, Deputy Inspector General of Police for the Udhampur-Reasi Range, expressed his condolences, stating, "This is very sad, but it is part of our duty." He highlighted the difficult terrain, characterised by dense forests and poor network coverage, complicating the operation. Despite these challenges, Bhat assured that efforts are ongoing to neutralise the threat using advanced technology and drones.

In response to the incident, security across the region has been heightened. The CRPF released a statement on X, honouring Inspector Singh’s bravery and reaffirming their support for his family.
