A massive fire erupted in the Jammu and Kashmir's Malaratta area, leading to the destruction of a mosque and several houses on Monday. Following the tragic incident, fire brigade officials rushed to the spot to bring the blaze under control. Besides the mosque, several other buildings, including a commercial complex and residences, were destroyed in the fire in the congested Bohri Kadal locality, the officials said.

The officials said there are no reports of any casualties so far. The exact cause of the fire will be ascertained once firefighting operations are complete, they added. "A mosque, a few shops, and residential houses were gutted in the fire...12 fire tenders, including hydraulic cranes, have been deployed. We will ascertain the cause of the fire," Deputy Commissioner of Srinagarm Bilal Mohiudin said. He further added that the entire team, including the ADC's, Tehsildars, and police officials, are present at the spot.
Similar fire incidents in J-K
Earlier in February this year, a massive fire had engulfed a residential property located in the Bagh-e-Mehtab area of Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the information, the blaze erupted on February 7. Fire and emergency services swiftly responded to the incident and actively engaged in combatting the flames and conducting extensive firefighting operations.
In a similar incident on February 5, a fire erupted in a vegetable and fruit market in the Banihal area of Jammu and Kashmir's Ramban district, resulting in the gutting of dozens of shops.
