Pulwama encounter: Two terrorists were killed in the encounter that broke out with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama on Monday (June 3). As per sources, the killed terrorists have been identified as Riyaz Dar and Rayees Ahmad of Kakpora Pulwama. Both was affiliated with LeT.
"Bodies of 02 #terrorists killed in the anti-terrorist operation recovered so far. Identity & affiliation being ascertained. #Operation in progress. Further details shall follow," the police said.
Earlier in the day, the security forces launched a cordon and search operation in the Nihama area of the south Kashmir district after receiving specific input about the presence of militants there.
"Encounter has started at Nihama area of Pulwama. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow," Kashmir Zone Police posted on X.
Pakistani terrorist suspected to be trapped
As per the reports, one local terrorist and one Pakistani terrorist were suspected to be trapped inside. Encounter on. CRPF, the Indian army and JKP were in action.
The search operation escalated into an encounter when militants opened fire on a search party of the forces, prompting retaliation.
Last month, a terrorist was shot dead following an encounter between terrorists and security forces in Kashmir's Pulwama. The terrorist was identified as Danish Aijaz Sheikh, 34, son of Aijaz Ahmad Shiekh and resident of Alnoor Colony, Ellahibagh under Ahmadnagar police station in Srinagar.
