Amarnath Yatra 2024: The Amarnath Shrine Board and the Jammu and Kashmir Administration are all geared up for the annual holy yatra. This year, the journey will start from June 29 and conclude on August 19.

Services like online helicopter booking for Amarnath Yatra will start from June 1. The rates for helicopter service to the cave will be announced soon by Amarnath Shrine Board, which is headed by Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha.

Jammu and Kashmir administration has already started preparations for the smooth conduct of the Yatra. The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has almost completed snow clearance work on the Baltal-Domel track and further development of the track is underway. Dozens of labourers and big machines are engaged in snow removal work on this route. Where there is snow, it is being removed and where it is blocked with leaves, it is being cleared. About 5-7 feet of snow is still present on both the paths of the cave.

Necessary instructions have been given to Project Beacon officers of BRO for timely completion of all related works including track development, guardrail and wire meshing, snow removal, safety works, track lighting and other necessary works.

The Government has issued clear instructions to the Heads of Departments to ensure that all preparations are completed within the stipulated time frame, so that the best possible services can be provided to the devotees.

Let us tell you that the annual Amarnath Yatra journey takes place through two routes - the traditional 48 km long Nunwan-Pahalgam route in Anantnag district and the shorter but steeper 14 km long Baltal route in Ganderbal district. This yatra attracts thousands of devotees from far and wide who come to see the naturally formed Shivling of Lord Shiva inside the cave temple.
