Social media giants Facebook and Instagram were down in Indian region on Tuesday evening at around 8:30 pm and was restored at around 08.50 pm. The cause of the crash remains unknown.
Confused Facebook and Instagram users took to microblogging site Twitter to find out if the sites had really crashed or they were facing local issues.
Within minutes of the crash 'Why is Facebook down' and 'Have facebook and Instagram crashed' filled Twitter.
Some social media users even cheered the down time for Facebook. "hey @facebook please stay down forever and we can drop our differences. (sic)," a tweet user said, referring to amount of debates that take place on Facebook timelines.
The issue for now seems to be local to India region. More details awaited.
