COVID19: Pfizer's arthritis drug can cut death risk in severe patients
An arthritis drug -- Tofacitinib -- developed by US biopharmaceutical Pfizer has shown to be effective in reducing the risk of death or respiratory failure in hospitalised adult patients with Covid-19 pneumonia who were not on ventilation, according to a study. Tofacitinib belongs to a class of drugs called Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors. It is approved in the US to treat conditions including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis and ulcerative colitis.

The SARS-CoV-2 seropositivity rate among children was high compared to the adult population in the survey, which was conducted in five selected states with a total sample size of 10,000 by WHO-AIIMS

How facts were twisted to spread canard about calf blood in Covid vaccines?
Gaurav Pandhi, who looks after the social media wing of Congress party, had in a video alleged that the blood of newborn calf is used in Covaxin. He claimed on Twitter that the blood of a 20-day-old bovine calf is used to make the vaccine and the calf is slaughtered. He described it as heinous.

India logs 67,208 new COVID cases
India reported 67,208 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours, according to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Thursday. The COVID-19 death toll climbed to 3,81,903 with 2,330 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am showed.
The active cases further declined to 8,26,740 comprising 2.78 per cent of the total infections. India recovery rate increased to 95.93%.
A net decline of 1,03,570 cases has been recorded in the COVID-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours.

It says a person who is asymptomatic doesn't require oxygen support but if a patient has mild, moderate or severe symptoms, they should get oxygen support with the consultation of the doctor. Also, people with mild symptoms or who are asymptomatic do not need anti-inflammatory or immunomodulatory therapy. However, people with moderate to severe symptoms might need it.
