Nayab Singh Saini oath-taking ceremony LIVE: Vij, Rao Narbir, Arvind Sharma become Haryana ministers

In the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, Shyam Singh Rana defeated Congress candidate Dr Bishan Lal Saini in the Radaur constituency by 13,132 votes.

Shyam Singh Rana of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially taken oath as a minister in the Haryana government led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. 

Arvind Kumar Sharma, in the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, defeated Congress candidate Jagbir Singh Malik in the Gohana constituency by 10,429 votes.

Arvind Kumar Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken the oath of office as a minister in the newly formed cabinet led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. 

Vipul Goel, in the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, defeated Congress candidate Lakhan Kumar Singla in the Faridabad constituency by 48,388 votes.

Vipul Goel from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially taken oath as a minister in the Haryana government, joining the cabinet led by Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini. The ceremony marks Goel’s return to the state cabinet, where he is expected to contribute to the government’s initiatives and policies.

Mahipal Dhanda, in the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, defeated Congress candidate Sachin Kundu in the Panipat Rural constituency by 50,212 votes. Dhanda won the Panipat Rural constituency twice in 2014 and 2019 Haryana Assembly elections. In the 2014 polls, Dhanda defeated independent candidate Dhara Singh Rawal by 36,132 votes. In the 2019 polls, Dhanda retained the seat by defeating Jannayak Janta Party's (JJP) Devender Kadian by 21,961 votes.

Rao Narbir Singh, in the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, defeated Congress candidate Vardhan Yadav in the Badshahpur constituency by 60,705 votes. Singh represented Jatusana, Sohna and Badshahpur constituencies in Haryana in 1987, 1996 and 2014 respectively. Singh held several ministries, including Public Works, Public Health Engineering, Architecture and Forest in the first Manohar Lal Khattar government from 2014 to 2019. In the 2014 Haryana polls, Narbir Singh won the Badshahpur seat by defeating Indian National Lok Dal's (INLD) Rakesh Daultabad.

Haryana’s political landscape welcomed a new member as Rao Narbir Singh took the oath of office as a Cabinet minister. 

Krishan Lal Panwar, in the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, defeated Congress candidate Balbir Singh Balmiki in the Israna constituency by 13,895 votes. Panwar won the Assandh Assembly constituency thrice in a row in 1991, 1996 and 2000 as a Janata Party, Samta Party and Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) candidate. He lost the election in 2005. 

He won the Israna constituency as an INLD candidate in 2009 by defeating Congress candidate Balbir Singh Balmiki. He joined the BJP and won the seat again in 2014 by defeating Balmiki. However, Balbir Singh Balmiki avenged his defeat in 2019 and defeated Panwar by 20,015 votes. Krishan Lal Panwar held several ministries, including Jails, Transport and Housing in the first Manohar Lal Khattar government.

Anil Vij held several ministries, including Home, Urban Development, Technical Education, Science and Technology, Health, Medical Education, AYUSH, Sports, and Youth Affairs, in the Manohar Lal Khattar government from 2014 to 2024. In the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, Vij defeated independent candidate Chitra Sarwara in the Ambala Cantt. constituency by a margin of 7,277 votes.

Anil Vij, the senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and the former Home Minister of Haryana, contested his first Assembly election from the Ambala Cantonment constituency in 1990 when Sushma Swaraj left the seat and became a Rajya Sabha member. He won the byelection. In the 1991 Haryana polls, Vij was defeated by Congress candidate Brij Anand by 8,017 votes. In 1996 and 2000, Anil Vij stood as an independent candidate and won on both occasions. In the 1996 polls, Vij defeated Congress candidate Raj Rani by 6,090 votes. In the 2000 elections, Vij won the seat by defeating the BJP's Kabir Dev with a margin of 9,057 votes. However, he lost the election in 2005 against Congress candidate Devender Kumar by just 615 votes. Vij returned to the BJP and won three consecutive elections in 2009, 2014, and 2019. 

Nayab Singh Saini lost his first election from the Naraingarh Assembly constituency in 2009 and stood fifth with a dismal 8,082 votes. However, he won the seat in the 2014 Haryana polls by defeating Congress sitting MLA Ram Kishan with a margin of 24,361 votes. He held several ministries, including Labour and Employment, Mines and Geology, and New and Renewable Energy, as Minister of State (MoS) in the Manohar Lal Khattar government.

Nayab Singh Saini replaced Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) veteran Manohar Lal Khattar as the Chief Minister in March this year. Saini was also the BJP Haryana state chief for a brief period from 2023 to 2024. He won Kurukshetra's 2019 Lok Sabha election by defeating Congress leader Nirmal Singh with a massive margin of 3,84,591 votes. He later represented the Karnal Assembly seat after becoming the CM and winning a bypoll in June this year. He won by a margin of 41,540 votes against Congress candidate Tarlochan Singh. In the recently concluded Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, Saini defeated Congress candidate Mewa Singh in the Ladwa constituency by a margin of 16,054 votes.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several key political leaders gathered in Panchkula for the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana’s CM-designate Nayab Singh Saini. The event saw the attendance of Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, and other Chief Ministers, Deputy Chief Ministers, Union Ministers, and National Democratic Alliance (NDA) leaders. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu expressed his satisfaction with the growing confidence in Prime Minister Narendra Modi as he arrived at Chandigarh Airport on Friday. Speaking ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of Haryana CM-elect Nayab Singh Saini in Panchkula, Naidu emphasized the significance of the electoral victory.

“We are very happy. This is the confidence people are having in PM Modi. That’s why it is a big victory. The mood of the nation is very clear,” Naidu stated.

The Supreme Court on Friday warned a petitioner of imposing costs for attempting to delay the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected legislators in Haryana. The petitioner sought an urgent hearing to halt the swearing-in, citing procedural irregularities.

Upon his arrival at Chandigarh Airport for the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected Haryana government, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami was greeted warmly by BJP workers. Expressing his gratitude, Dhami thanked the party workers for their heartfelt welcome and support.

Haryana’s Chief Minister-designate Nayab Singh Saini extended greetings to the nation on the occasion of Valmiki Jayanti, offering his best wishes to the people of the state and country.

“Today is the Jayanti of Valmiki ji Maharaj, and I extend my best wishes to the people of the country and the state,” Saini said. He expressed gratitude to the people of Haryana for their support over the last decade of BJP governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Chandigarh: Union Minister and RPI(A) President Ramdas Athawale expressed his gratitude to the people of Haryana as he arrived at Chandigarh Airport on Friday to attend the swearing-in ceremony of CM-elect Nayab Singh Saini. Athawale highlighted the BJP’s significant achievement of securing a third consecutive term in Haryana and praised the leadership of Saini, who will be taking office for the second time.

“Nayab Singh Saini ji has been given the opportunity to become CM for the second time. BJP has won power for the third time here, which is a huge achievement. The people of Haryana have made excellent decisions, and I express my gratitude to them,” Athawale said.

The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to take place in Panchkula, with several high-profile political leaders expected to attend.

Haryana’s CM designate, Nayab Singh Saini, marked the occasion of Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti by offering prayers at the Valmiki Temple in Panchkula. Saini, who will soon assume office as the state’s Chief Minister, visited the temple to seek blessings.

Anil Vij and Krishan Lal Panwar have been contacted for the upcoming oath-taking ceremony, indicating their inclusion in the next round of ministerial appointments. Alongside them, several other prominent leaders such as Vipul Goel, Rao Narbir, Aarti Rao, Krishan Bedi, and Ranbir Gangwa have also been informed about their participation.
