The girl was provided oxygen through the 108 ambulance service team to keep her alive even though her body was showing no movement during the early hours of the rescue operation, Gadhvi said.
He said the local fire department swiftly initiated a rescue operation after being informed about the incident. He added that a National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team from Gandhinagar later joined the exercise
NDRF also involved in rescue operation
An NDRF team from Gandhinagar reached the incident site at 10.20 pm on Friday and started the operation, the agency said.
The NDRF stated that the borewell was 500 feet deep and after falling into it, the girl got trapped at a depth of around 50 feet. The baby was brought out in an unconscious state at around 5 am, it said.
Union Minister request people to inform about open borewells
Meanwhile, Union Minister of State Praful Pansheriya requested people to inform the government about any open borewell. He said, “I request everyone in Gujarat, if you can’t close borewells please inform us. If you can’t do it, please drop a message or send us a letter.”
The minister emphasised similar action in Dwarka after a similar incident happened four months back. He informed that about 35-40 borewells were closed at that time and the Chief Minster had also issued a letter regarding open borewells.
