Ahmedabad: At least two persons lost their lives while three others were injured due to a blast at a powder coating firm in Ahmedabad on Monday, said the official. All the injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. According to the fire department, the fire broke out at around 1:15 pm due to a blast in shed no. 75, Banshee Powder Coating, at Arihant Industrial Estate. A total of five teams were sent to the spot and a rescue operation was launched.
Owner of firm killed
In the incident, 50-year-old Rameshbhai Patel, the owner, along with his 25-year-old worker Pawan Kumar, tragically lost their lives. Patel's son Vasudev, who was injured, has been referred to the nearest hospital.
The owner of shed no. 74 Ganesh Plastic, Dungarsingh Bahadursingh Rajput and 22-year-old worker Surpalasi Thakur have also been taken to the nearest hospital. There was damage reported at shed number 76, Akash Industries, but fortunately, there were no casualties reported there.
SS Gadhavi, Nikol fire station officer, said, "In the Odhav area, there was a powder coating firm. Hot processing is done for powder coating, and there was some pressure in the oven, so the blast happened. Two people lost their lives and three people were injured. The injured have been admitted to the hospital. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem to Civil Hospital."
