Gujarat: Seven dead in tragic collision on Junagadh-Somnath Highway

The accident occurred at approximately 8 AM near Maliya Hatina. Among the deceased were five students traveling to take an examination. The explosion caused by the CNG cylinder intensified the tragedy, leading to a fire that engulfed a nearby structure.

A devastating accident on the Junagadh-Somnath Highway claimed the lives of seven people this morning near Bhanduri village in Gujarat. The collision involved two cars, one of which was fitted with a CNG cylinder that exploded upon impact, triggering a fire in a nearby shack.

Seven people were killed in a fatal road accident on the Somnath-Jetpur highway near Maliya Hatina in Gujarat on Monday morning. The heavy crash caused both vehicles to twist beyond recognition, with five passengers in one vehicle and two passengers in another losing their lives on the spot.

How the accident happened

The incident took place at around 8 am when a vehicle heading towards Somnath lost control, crossed the divider, and collided with an oncoming vehicle. The force of the impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely destroyed.

Adding to the tragedy, a gas cylinder in one of the cars exploded on impact, causing a fire in a nearby shack. Fire department officials rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the flames, but not before causing significant damage.

  • Raju Kanji Chala
  • Dharam Vijay Gore
  • Akshar Dave
  • Raju Kanji Bhutan

Five of them are reportedly students traveling to take an exam.

Quick response

Police and fire crews arrived on the scene shortly after the crash. The bodies of the deceased have been sent for post-mortem, and police are investigating the cause of the accident.

Investigation underway

The FSL (Forensic Science Laboratory) team is investigating the accident to ascertain the exact cause of the accident. Initial reports indicated that the driver of one of the cars lost power in the tragic collision.
