In a devastating turn of events, a journey from Mumbai to Ahmedabad ended in tragedy for five young men on May 2, as their Maruti Suzuki Brezza crashed, resulting in two fatalities. The incident, occurring between 3:30 and 4:30 am, involved individuals aged between 22 and 27, who were reportedly recording themselves while driving at high speed.
Video evidence
According to NDTV, a video capturing the journey showcased loud music and an Instagram live stream, with the occupants sharing their drive with their online audience. The video footage revealed the SUV's speedometer reaching 160 kmph, with passengers urging the driver to accelerate further.
Fatal outcome
As the video progresses, the reckless driving culminates in a crash, with the sound of brakes screeching. Sadly, the collision resulted in the loss of Aman Mehboobbhai Sheikh and Chiragkumar K. Patel's lives, both residents of Ahmedabad. Other occupants sustained injuries and were promptly attended to by medical personnel.
Investigation and legal action
The fatal crash occurred near Adas in Gujarat, approximately 100 kilometres from Ahmedabad, when the SUV collided with a tree. The driver, identified as Mustafa, also known as Shahbad Khan Pathan, faces charges in connection with the incident, as per reports from NDTV.
