In a shocking incident, a TV actress has reportedly filed an FIR against a man for sexually harassing her in a fitness centre in Mumbai. The suspect harassed the victim by asking her for sexual favours. Amboli police registered a case against Vishwanath Shetty, who visits the fitness centre, according to a report in Times of India. Vishwanath Shetty has apparently sent some inappropriate text messages to the victim and based on the complaint, the cops registered a case under Indian penal code section 354, 354A, 500, 504,506 and 509. The cops are also going through CCTV footage to come to a conclusion.
Deputy commissioner of police (zone IX) Paramjit Singh Dahiya told TOI that police are going through CCTV footage to get a clearer view of the apparent molestation that occurred at the fitness centre. The police also said that Shetty misbehaved and threatened the victim in front of her friends at the fitness centre.
The 37-year-old actress had a fight with the suspect on Tuesday afternoon when she learned that Shetty had sent some inappropriate text messages to her friend.
Senior inspector Bharat Gaikwad said they are still investigating the case and haven't arrested him yet. Shetty misbehaved and threatened the victim in front of her friends at the fitness centre, police said. Investigating officer Daya Nayak said they have issued the orders and he will have to be present for the interrogation before they proceed with any action.
"The incident took place at a gym in Andheri West, where the actress regularly goes for workouts. In her complaint, she said that the accused reached out to her and started speaking to her. He then tried to touch her inappropriately, besides seeking sexual favours from her. When she ignored and started to walk away, he hurled profanities at her," a police officer was quoted as saying to Mumbai Mirror.
