Hina Khan became the first Indian TV actress to walk the red carpet of coveted Cannes Film Festival 2019. For the day, Hina wore a fairytale gown with a plunging neckline while her hair was done in a princess updo. Her fans were raving about her Cannes look but a magazine editor found it okay to mock her appearance. Taking a jibe at her Cannes look, he wrote, "Did Cannes become Chandivali Studios Kya? sharing a picture of Hina Khan from the gala. The comment didn't go down well with Hina's fans as well as members of television fraternity. Many of them came out in support of their fellow member and criticised the editor for his remarks.

TV actor Arjun Bijlani, who is known for many hit TV shows including Naagin 2 and Ishq Mein Marjawaan wrote a lengthy post in support of Hina Khan. He wrote, "Firstly we r all proud that @realhinakhan is at the Cannes film festival.she has reached there on her own and yes Hina u looked stunning.coming to this derogatory comment firstly mr ********** u being the editor of magazine and writing something so ridiculous is appalling.secondly don’t forget that filmfare is telecasted on TELEVISION.why don’t u make a film to show filmfare.show some respect.thirdly don’t ever travel to chandivali I’m sure people there r v upset with u.and lastly u hv no right to ridicule anyone especially a woman . And yes u just made her a superstar so thank you...."
He slammed the editor for looking down upon television industry. Hina Khan thanked him for extending his support towards her.
TV actress Riddhi Dogra also wrote an Instagram story, slamming the editor for belittling television.

Karanvir Bohra took to his Instagram and wrote, "I'm appalled at this insta story of *********. Maybe, you had things ready for you maybe you didn't have a humble beginning, maybe you did....but I think hobnobbing with the gliterati you have forgotten your roots. This is the same chandivali studios where @iamsrk sir #naseeruddinshah sir @anupampkher ji @ektaravikapoor @sushantsinghrajput have come up the hard way and made a name for themselves. We all are very proud of @realhinakhan and for this achievement. We all are with you girl. And If you can't say anything nice pls be gracious to not pass such snide remarks."
Ishqbaaz actor Nakuul Mehta came out in support of Hina Khan on Twitter and wrote, "Cannes is NO Chandivali studio. It can't ever be. Chandivali is where many TV shows, ad films and features have been shot. Some very iconic one's too.

Hina Khan's close friend and TV producer Ekta Kapoor also dropped a comment on Karanvir Bohra's post and wrote, "Tacky post. Class is in acceptance n being inclusive. I like Jitesh but the post is in terrible taste. Kudos to Hina."

After such backlash, the editor did apologise for his snide remarks and made it clear that his post was not intended to be in bad taste. Hina Khan also thanked him to acknowledge this and put an end to all these Instagram threads.

Soon after this fiasco, #ChandivalitoCannes started trending on Twitter and Hina Khan totally loved the amount of love and support she received. On the work front, Hina Khan will soon make her Bollywood debut with movie titled Lines. She will also start working on Vikram Bhatt's next film.
