Fandom can be lethal if it surpasses a certain level. This happened with KGF superstar Yash’s fan when he immolated himself just outside the actor’s bungalow. This happened when a fan reached outside Yash’s house to celebrate the actor’s birthday and click a selfie with him. However, the superstar decided not to celebrate his birthday as tribute to the death of veteran Kannada actor Ambreesh. This didn’t go down well with the fan who was present to click a selfie with him.
The 26-year-old fan Ravi Raghuram didn’t get the chance to meet Yash and due to this, he set himself ablaze right outside the actor’s bungalow in Bengaluru. As per the media reports, he suffered 70% burns and was immediately taken to Victoria Hospital by the security staff. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries. Ravi’s father was shocked by his demise and told media, “Ravi goes every year to meet Yash. Last year he had taken us to his house as well. This year, we had told him not to go, but he persisted. Do not know where Ravi got the petrol from."
Learning about the horrific incident, Yash visited the hospital and said, “I do not want fans like this, this is not fandom or love, this does not bring me happiness. I will not come to see anybody else like this again, it will give the wrong message to fans who think that I will come and meet them (if they take drastic steps like this)."
As per Dr KT Ramesh, even when Ravi was on the support of the equipment, he was only talking about Yash. He even revealed the fan’s last words. “When we were dressing his wounds, Ravi asked the doctors whether Yash would come to see him, now that he was struggling between life and death."
