South Indian actress Krishna Kumari passes away at 85

Krishna made her acting debut in 1951 with a Telugu movie titled Navvithe Navaratnalu.

Popular South Indian actress Krishna Kumari, who was 85-year-old reportedly passed away today. Reports are that she expired due to some age-related problems. She is survived by her daughter Dipika. Sources revealed that Krishna was recently diagnosed with bone marrow cancer. She was being treated in Apollo Hospital for last few months. Sources also said that she underwent chemotherapy last year March. 

Krishna made her acting debut in 1951 with a Telugu movie titled Navvithe Navaratnalu. The south Indian actress later acted in as many as 50 Telugu, Tamil and Kannada movies.

She has shared screen space with renowned stars including NT Rama Rao, Krishnam Raju, Kanta Rao, Akkineni Nageswara Rao, Jaggayya, Dr Rajkumar, Sivaji Ganesan and others.

The actress was married to Ajay Mohan Khaitan, who was the former editor of the Indian Express and founder of Screen Magazine.

After marriage she decide to quit acting and moved to Bengaluru with her daughter.
