South actor Siddharth on Wednesday said he is keen for a remake of "Andhadhun", which has been dubbed as 2018's best Hindi film by critics, and the original film's star Ayushmann Khurrana is up for the idea. The 39-year-old actor, best known in Bollywood for his stint in "Rang De Basanti" and "Chashme Baddoor", asked his fans if they would like a reimagining of the Sriram Raghavan-directed thriller.
"Quick vote - since it's on the table already, how many of you want to see me remake this lovely film? I'm very serious #Andhadhun @ayushmannk #sriramraghavan #Classic," Siddharth tweeted. To which Ayushmann gave a nod, replying, "Go for it machaan (friend)!"
"Andhadhun", an edge-of-the-seat thriller about a blind pianist, has also topped IMDb charts as the best Indian movie of this year. Also starring Tabu and Radhika Apte, the film released on October 5.
AndhaDhun can aptly be called the most thrilling movie of the year. A completely different subject, dark undertone, crisp writing and phenomenal acting made the movie worth-a-watch. Besides making good numbers at the box office, it also won high critical acclaim and audience applause. Needless to say why it is the top Indian movie of 2018, as per IMDb customer ratings.
AndhaDhun won four honours, including the Best Director, at the Star Screen Awards. Sriram Raghavan, who helmed the edge-of-the-seat thriller is elated. Apart from the Best Director trophy for Raghavan, the Ayushmann Khurrana and Tabu-starrer bagged the Best Film Writing for Arijit Biswas, Yogesh Chandekar, Hemant Rao, Pooja Ladha Surti and Raghavan, the Best Editing for Pooja Ladha Surti and Best Sound Design for Madhu Apsara.
Director Raghavan said in a statement: "I'm very happy with the audience response that AndhaDhun has had. The awards of course are an icing on the cake. A film like this not only requires complete creative freedom but also the belief and support of its producer, and I got that abundantly from Sanjay Routray and Matchbox Pictures. Looking forward to more such collaborations."
