The makers of KGF dropped the second trailer of the Kannada flick on Wednesday, sustaining the tremendous buzz that has been created around it. The rags to riches tale revolves around the journey of one man (played by Yash), who rises from the dusty streets of Mumbai to become the ruler of the now-defunct Kolar Gold Fields.

The over two-minute long trailer begins with a narrator recounting incidents from the latter part of the '70s, when the conflict between the US and Russia was at its pinnacle. The conflict resulted in the rapid rise in gold prices, and subsequently the greed of men. KGF traces the history of gold mining in the expansive fields of Karnataka and the mafia who controlled it.

The trailer is shot entirely in sepia tone and creates a sense of intrigue with its rapid montage sequences.

Farhan Akhtar has taken up the distribution of the Hindi version of the film under his Excel Entertainment, banner along with Anil Thadani, who owns AA Films. The film marks the debut of Kannada actor Yash in Hindi cinema who plays the protagonist, Rocky. The film also stars Srinidhi Shetty in the female lead role. The film will also be dubbed into Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Chinese and Japanese.

KGF is being considered as one of the most expensive works of the Kannada film industry. Directed by Prashanth Neel of Ugramm-fame, the film also stars Ramya Krishna, Anant Nag and Achyuth Kumar. The first chapter of the two-part period drama has been in production for the last two years and is slated to release on 21 December.
