Eight-time National Award-winning editor Sreekar Prasad says it was a "fanboy" moment for him when he got the opportunity to work with superstar Rajinikanth in "Kaala". Prasad, who edited the Pa Ranjith-directed movie, says he met the veteran actor twice during the production of the film.

"He was very passionate about the film and used to ask how the film was shaping up, but he never interfered in the creative decisions," Prasad told PTI. In "Kaala", it was the director who took all creative decisions, he added.

"I am working with the superstar for the first time, it was a fanboy moment as I had seen most of his films since I was growing up... He also seemed to be passionate about watching the films that were up for a release and had encouraging words for the good efforts of the filmmakers," he said.

"Kaala" is slated for release on June 7, Prasad said.

Besides Rajinikanth, the trilingual movie also features Nana Patekar, Huma Qureshi, actor-director Samudrakani, Eswari Rao and a host of others.

The ace editor added four of the films he worked on received National Awards across different languages and categories.

They are "ToLet" (best Tamil feature film), "Ghazi" (best Telugu feature), "Ishu" (best Assamese feature) and "Kaatru Veliyidai" (best music direction for AR Rahman and best female singer for Shashaa Tirupati).

Prasad said he has also edited Nandita Das' directorial "Manto" (Hindi), which got selected in the Uncertain Regard Category at Cannes Film Festival.

His upcoming projects include the trilingual film "Saaho", featuring Prabhas and Shraddha Kapoor, untitled Vijay-starrer directed by AR Murugadoss, a Telugu film, the

Chiranjeevi-starrer "Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy", Mani Ratnam's Tamil film "Chekka Chivantha Vaanam" and the Nivin Pauly-Mohan Lal starrer "Kayamkulam Kochunni".
