Veteran actress Asha Parekh is bestowed with the much coveted Dadasaheb Phalke Award for Outstanding Contribution To Film Industry. Speaking on the occasion, Asha Parekh said, "I am honoured to get his award just one day before my 80th birthday. I would like to thank the jury for honouring my work."

Known as the 'Hit Girl' of Indian cinema, Asha Parekh appeared in many commercially successful films throughout her career. She was the highest-paid actor (female) of her time and was one of the most successful actors (female) of the 1960s and 1970s. She is considered one of the most influential actors of all time in Hindi cinema.

Director Om Raut honoured with Best Popular Film award for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. On the other hand, Soorarai Potru is honoured with the Best Feature Film award.

Aparna Balamurali is conferred with the Best Actress Award for her inspiring performance in Soorarai Pottru.

Ajay Devgn has now become a three-time National Award winner after winning the Best Actor award for Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. Prior to this, he won National Award for Best Actor for Zakhm in 1998 and The Legend of Bhagat Singh in 2002.

South actor Suriya shared the award with Ajay Devgn for outstanding performance in the film Soorarai Pottru.

Nanchamma wins the Best Female Playback Singer awards for Ayyappanam Koshiyum. She gets a standing ovation from the audience.

The award for Best Playback Singer Male goes to Rahul Deshpande for Marathi film I AM Vasantrao.

Manoj Muntashir received his National Award for Best Lyrics in the Parineeti Chopra starrer Saina, the biopic on shuttler Saina Nehwal. 

Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar also arrived for the National Film Awards presentation ceremony in New Delhi on Friday. His recent directorial is Babli Bouncer, streaming on Disney+Hotstar.

Child actor Varun Buddhadev was awarded the Special Jury Mention for his performance in the film Toolsidas Junior.

Union Minister for I&B Anurag Thakur praised the filmmakers in India for their storytelling and vision. "Cinema is the soft power that can cut across boundaries and reach anywhere," he said.

Girish Kasaravalli was presented with his 15th National Award on Friday for the documentary, Naadada Navaneeta Dr P T Venkateshkumar. The film was adjudged the Best Arts and Culture Film in the non-feature film section.

Suriya was seen smiling at the National Film Awards presentation ceremony. He will be awarded the Best Actor award for Soorarai Pottru.
