Tera Suroor
While you sit through the whole film expecting Reshammiya to act, you will wonder why he gazes so hard into the eyes of every other actor present in the frame. It’s like a bad photoshop where a static head has been stuck on a moving body. Reshammiya the actor is very austere in his smiles too. Be it happiness or gloom, when it comes to smiles, there is no room.
Reshammiya’s eyes also has an uncanny resemblance with Munaf Patel’s eyes, both have them fixed with the body as they have been stored for future transplants.
Reshammiya has also got a tough competition from film’s female lead Farah Karimaee, both in expressions and flaunting their visage.
Teraa Suroor is the story of an undercover assassin Raghu who works overtime to get his fiancé Tara (Farah Karimaee) out of the Dublin jail.
The reason why she is in jail will again surprise you, she left for Ireland to perform in a music show organised by a phoney facebook friend Anirudh Brahmin whom she have never met or talked on phone.
Now Raghu, the lover meets master strategist ‘Bird’ (Naseerudin Shah) who has escaped prison for a record 14 times and now wilfully stays in prison. As you will see both actors in one frame, you can get simultaneous lessons in how to act and how not to act.
As Bird chalks the plan for Tara’s escape, Raghu says, ‘Hum dono me ye kaisa rishta Jud gaya hai sir’, a cautious Naseer looks at him suspiciously.
Now, the rest of the script can be written by amateur as you will see Dublin police messing up at all crucial moments and our hero running away with love of his life and then finally finding the Anirudh Brahmin.
Before interval the film moves like a ‘chitrahaar’ where songs are plenty but story has been used only to connect the dots.
Even dialogues will leave you stunned. Check this : ‘Jurm ki duniya ke log mujhe gangster ke naam se jaante hain’
Surprisingly, even the goons Himesh fights in Dublin are Indians. It must have cost the crew quite a lot to arrange visas for so many desi goons.
Camera has exquisitely been used to locate Reshammiya at almost every angle, be it Hawk eye view or tender close ups, you can always say, ‘Hey! See there is our Reshammiya.’
Now you can definitely conclude why they have given the tagline ‘A Lethal love story’, because it’s quite a lethal dose of entertainment that may psychologically debilitate you for rest of the life.
Despite being savaged by the critics for several times, Reshammiya is a man who never gives up, Be it Karzz, Aap Ka Suroor, Radio etc, the musician turned actor can make anyone go insane at his inability to deliver the simplest of lines.
With his performance, he might be trying to send a message to the world: Damn you all detractors, I have acted with likes Naseerudin Shah and Shekhar Kapur, who cares if you like me or not.
