Varun Dhawan has established himself as one of the most bankable actors of Bollywood with back to back hits. On the other hand, Sara Ali Khan has made an impact right from her debut itself. Both her films Kedarnath and Simmba did well at the box office. Now, the rumours are abuzz that Sara and Varun have been roped in for Coolie No. 1 remake. As per a media report, Sara will romance the Sui Dhaaga actor for the first time on silverscreen. Coolie No. 1 is touted to be one of the best comedy films ever made in Indian cinema. The original film had Karisma Kapoor and Govinda in the lead role.
A source told DNA, “arun and Sara will share screen space in the former’s first home production. It will be directed by David Dhawan, who had also helmed the original. This will be the first film to roll out under their banner The One Entertainment. The team wanted a new jodi for the comedy and the Dhawans felt Sara would be apt for it.”
It is also being said that Sara Ali Khan bagged this role way before Kedarnath was released.
“They were in talks for some time and had approached her even before Kedarnath hit the marquee. The idea is to adapt the original and modernise it. The 23-year-old will step into Karisma’s shoes, but the makers are changing the character sketch a bit and making it even more prominent in the remake,” the source added.
On Karan Johar’s chat show Koffee With Karan, Sara Ali Khan expressed her desire to work with Varun Dhawan. It seems like her dreams are coming true now.
Last, she was seen in Simmba which has crossed Rs 200 crore mark at the box office. The actress is being praised by the audience not only for her acting but also her sense of humour and wit in the promotional interviews.
