There were a lot of rumours that were doing rounds on the social media as Padmaavat went on floors. There were reports that Deepika Padukone got Vicky Kaushal out of the film since she wanted to act alongside an A-lister. However, the rumour died as soon as the air was cleared. Another rumour that did round was that Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor didn’t get along very well on the film’s sets. It was also being said the both the actors couldn’t even look eye to eye with each other during the filming. Deepika Padukone used to reportedly step in between them to ease out the tension.
A year later, Ranveer Singh opened up on rumours about the tiff and dismissed them saying that everything was perfectly fine between them and they had a great time shooting for Padmaavat.
“We were very good together, yaar. I think we had a good time shooting for the film. Creatively fulfilling," he said.
The rumours sparked when Shahid Kapoor said on an interview that he felt like an outside on Padmaavat sets since Deepika and Ranveer have already worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali before. However, Ranveer Singh claims that he did everything he can to make Shahid comfortable on the sets.
Shahid Kapoor was recently on Koffee With Karan 6 where he mentioned that he would have wished for more equality in screen time in Padmaavat. He also spoke about the alleged issue with co-star Ranveer Singh. He said, “It's really a big film and the stakes were very high for everybody. So everybody wanted to have their A-game on. Everybody was doing everything it takes to kind of be in the centre of the limelight. I'm sure everybody felt a bit threatened by each other at some level, it's natural."
Even during the rapid fire round, when Shahid Kapoor was asked to choose between Ranveer Singh and Saif Ali Khan, he chose the latter.
