Los Angeles, Sept 2: Taylor Lautner and Dwayne Johnson may soon face off on the big screen.
The actors are in “early talks” to appear in Relativity Media's “Goliath,” a source close to the project told media on Thursday.
“The Twilight Saga” heartthrob would play the role of David, the shepherd boy-turned-giant-slaying future king in the Biblically-based film, while Johnson would throw his 6'5” frame behind the role of Goliath, the menacing warrior sent to destroy the Israelites.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, which was first to report the casting news, Scott Derrickson (“The Exorcism of Emily Rose”) is set to direct the project.
For Lautner fans who can't wait for “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1's” November 18 release, the 19-year-old heartthrob will soon be seen in the action thriller, “Abduction,” alongside Lily Collins, when the film hits theaters on September 23.
Johnson also has multiple projects in the pipeline – the “Fast Five” star recently wrapped production on “Journey 2: The Mysterious Island” with Josh Hutcherson and Vanessa Hudgens, and is currently filming, “G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation,” featuring Channing Tatum, Adrianne Palicki and Bruce Willis.
“G.I. Joe 2: Retaliation” is slated for release on June 29, 2012.
